No Ticket Required
Just finished reading the book 'No Ticket Required' written by a Man Utd fan who documents his experiences of travelling Europe jibbing on trains and into the match. Covers the period from early 80s to current day, including Euro 88 and Italia 90.

No match ticket needed at the London Stadium, and Wembley an even easier ride - although a bit more sophistication to it than those who stormed the Wembley stewards at yesterday's final.

Anyone on here jibbed a free train ride or match ticket on their travels?

I thought the videos from Sunday made us look like a nation of chavvy pissed up mugs for all the world to see, still its there own fault for pandering to the TV companies as usual and a kick off time of 8.00 o clock and letting people get on the beer for twelve hours!
___

from what i saw the majority of the jibbers were street youf - there were gangs of them all over wembley- most never been to a game in their lives

mind you i did see a load of the west ham youth be first to identify a way in before anyone else ;-)

Not exactly jibbing in but I once paid to go in the Leicester end at the old Filbert st as couldn't buy a ticket on the day for our section.
Was a bit hairy first half when they scored as had to look mildly enthusiastic as they were all going mental.
Got moved at HT to our section which adjoined as it was down the side. Think I ended up in the WHU disabled section, then moved in to our main section. Weighty equalised 2nd half.
I was laughing inside first half as they were singing "you've only got one song" and we replied "you've only got one stand"

France 98 lens - England Colombia - fuck knows how but I managed to find myself in the press area, (after climbing a fence or 2) picked up a press pass that was left on a table in a porta cabin where some jornos were watching the game on a screen, helped myself to the available buffet, paper plate and sandwiches in hand, straight up the stairs and into the back of the stand, literally no one said a thing.

He's spot on with that, my Gooner MATE got a few bricks lobbed at him and his firm down the side of the bus garage as they got escorted from the ground, when Swindlehurst got sent off and Chris WHYTE scored an oggie

Talking of books, I'm reading (for about the 3rd time) Steaming in by Colin Ward. Absolutely fantastic read of growing up in the 70s and 80s on the terraces.

Had to laugh at his take on West Ham...

"for some reason, east-end folk are always portrayed as friendly, happy-go-lucky folk. Do me a favour! Upton Park was the one place where for 5 seasons running, I went in fear for my life. Most Arsenal fans i knew wouldn't even bother going"

Your mate must either be very unlucky or is telling a fib to end up that position.

The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 would give him some protection. In fact quite a lot of protection.

It is mostly based on a scale of the original sentence.

For a fine t’s 12-months and the conviction is spent.

If he is required to have a whiter than white criminal record for his chosen profession, they would have need to sack him as soon as he had been convicted. If bunking a train fare is that grievous a crime that he cannot work there, he must go straight away.

To hold it over him and withhold a promotion suggests something else.

Woodford… to begin with he was not even going to mention it as he thought it was so trivial… couple of time he had to go to the appeal with his solicitor… cost him bucket loads… I suppose you need to be have to be seen to be whiter than white in Accountancy world…

An ex of mine got fired from her job after dipping her hands into a crèche fund that was sorted out for employees kids… not sure the amount but lost her job… then got hired by Barclays a few months later… work that out !!

NS he must have bunked more than just the once. You get an on the spot fine for bunking normally. The law only get involved if you are a serial bunker like this chap who fkd his career by getting caught..
